Hash report: After the aborted attempt by the Hares to lay a hash from a venue that had closed some months before, the change in location bought us to an establishment which had not featured on official hash records to date. The hares announced that they had invented a couple of symbols specially for the hash. Laying aside fears of impending disaster the pack set off.

The pre-hash email warned all hounds that a change of clothes would be required - a sure fire sign that the virgin hares had some mischief planned. The trail led the hounds a merry dance in the Dorchester drizzle. The first 'water crossing' took place in Borough Gardens - a route through one of the park fountains. This was quickly followed by a trip through the kids water fountains. Those that mistimed their run got at best a shot of water up the trouser leg and a wet crotch for the remainder of the run or at worse a free session of colonic irrigation.

The trail then twisted around to Poundbury Hill Fort, back through Poundbury and Thomas Hardy School to end up at the next water feature - the pond in front of Tesco. Surprisingly the water was chlorinated and may even make it into the Dorset Echo's 'Recommended spots for a dip in South Dorset 2014'. For those hashers of correct stature the level of the (by now) cold water was uncomfortably close to the gentleman's (or ladies') area. Wet crotches abounding the pack set off on the next leg.

The trail headed back towards the last water stop in Brewery Square fountains via Maumbury Rings. The trail headed back to the On Inn with some experienced hashers commenting on the inventive use of trails - some not used before.

Good effort from both hares on laying their virgin hash.

Special note: In conversation with Circus Boy it was noted that our hashing brethren in DHH3, Blandford H3 and Wessex H3 often hash within a short car journey from our usual area. As these hashes are held on different night of the week to Sub60 hashes it may be that a car can be filled and an away trip arranged. A new sub section under 'Hash Diary' called 'Dorset Hash Diary' will appear on the website shortly which will detail events held by our hashing kin. Why not fill a car and visit another hash? They don't bite... hard!
